Basic Information

Name: Calima Espejismo (Heat Haze Mirage) – Prefers to be called Cali
Gender: Female
Age: Around 250 (D.O.B: March 22nd)
Race: Arrancar
Rank: Tercera Espada
Aspect: Destruction

Appearance: Picture

Personality:
Cali tends to favour excitement over all other emotions, and consequently spends the vast majority of her time searching for, or creating, ostentatious and mischievous events. A true prankster at heart, the Tercera Espada goes to great lengths to make things interesting for everyone, though her playful nature often goes unappreciated. While she earned her position within the Espada through legitimate means, she enjoys playing with her enemies far more than she enjoys killing them—a trait which often causes Calima to leave jobs unfinished. She loves rock, metal and punk music, and for the most part, avoids other genres like the plague. Social endeavours are very important to her, as she tends to get bored very quickly when alone.

Calima loves to waste time on frivolous pursuits, and enjoys playing with weaker individuals until they are mushy and useless—although these unlucky combatants rarely end up dead. Her views in regards to killing are subjective, and often regarded as an awkward mixture of amorality and mercy. When she has something to protect that genuinely means something to her, she will act, with the utmost brutality, in the interest of personal preservation; but in most instances, she will let the enemy walk away heavily scathed, but living. Cali has a serious problem with authority, and a strong distaste for boredom; two traits which, when combined, create a very inefficient, spontaneous and annoying subordinate.

Biography
Calima was originally born Kikyo Kuteiru in Japan. Her family life was fairly normal, which was inevitably the reason for her departure from the living world. By the time she hit high school, she had become so tired of everyday life that she purposely endangered herself in an effort to make things more exciting. Of course, things played out well for the longest time (despite a few smashed cars and broken bones), and she continued on throughout her years normally.

By the time she reached college, however, her luck had finally taken a turn for the worst. In her freshman term, the college had been hosting a fairly lucrative carnival in an effort to raise funds for their academic semester, and as a volunteer, she had been charged with the responsibility of doing the final safety checks on the remaining rides—which was supposed to constitute simple diagnostics, but as per usual, Kikyo had opted for a more hands-on approach.

It was a masterful experience, and yet…something didn’t seem right. Something she would come to realize very soon when the one of the rides went berserk. Panic obviously ensued, but something soon stopped her upside down on a coaster loop, and she had made an attempt to compose herself. Unfortunately, that something had been a hollow, and as she struggled to escape the car, a sudden blow had cast her from her seat as she groped blindly for the safety bars. While she had managed to secure a grip on the extension, a second attack had torn the car in half, the bar slowly dislodging itself from the decimated structure. “I don’t... want to die. It wasn’t supposed to end like this... I just... I just wanted...”

The fall that ensued had marked Kikyo’s untimely death; and the subsequent birth of Calima.

Kikyo’s soul chain was severed shortly after her departure from the living world, though a Shinigami had managed to dispatch the hollow before her soul was properly devoured. Unfortunately, her heart had already begun to erode, and it was only a matter of time before she would hollowify. Years of mindless animality allowed Calima to grow to the Adjuhas level within a century, where she regained her thrill-seeking, excitement driven personality once more.

Of course, such things quickly forced Calima into a state of complete and utter boredom, and prompted her to strive towards progression. For the next hundred years, the female would devour numerous souls, and in time, would receive the state of being she had so blindly craved. But she was still just as bored, and her purpose had been achieved.

A few decades after reaching the Vasto Lorde level, Calima came across a group of similar hollow aimlessly wandering the sands of Hueco Mundo. Upon closer inspection, she noticed that they looked extremely unconventional, and approached them with caution. The Arrancar explained how they had torn off their masks, and how the powers such activity had warranted were incredible, to say the very least. Always one to take chances, Cali followed their lead, and immediately ripped off her mask, driven by blind ambition alone. The Arrancar around her were obliterated in the ensuing explosion, and a confused Calima rose from the ashes.

Over time, she would learn to control her new found powers, and would inevitably receive her very own zanpaktou; eventually earning the position of Tercera Espada. Calima gets a long incredibly well with the second Espada, Danzar, as his personality is quite similar to her own.

Battle Information

Strengths: Sonido, Swordplay, Reiatsu Manipulation .
Weaknesses: Weak Hierro.

Arrancar Techniques
Garganta, Hierro (although the weakest of the Espada), Negacion, Pesquisa, Sonido

Cero Estampido (Cero Boom) Calima’s regular cero. When fired, it takes on a deep red, (her signature reiatsu colour,) and forms a narrow concave of spirit energy. This is because Calima’s cero is, while smaller in physical stature, much more dense than those of her peers. The thinned beam is also notably volatile, and has been known to explode upon contact with objects, animate or inanimate alike.

Bala Estampido (Bala Boom) Calima’s regular bala. When hurled, these tiny red bullets, which in themselves are smaller than those of her fellow Espada, explode upon contact and possess the same volatile nature as her regular cero.

Centella Bengala (Flash Flare) A combination of Calima’s Cero and Bala Estampido, the Centella Bengala is created by forming a moderately-sized sphere of Cero above the head. Upon its creation, the ball is thrown, not towards the enemy, but towards the sky; exploding roughly ten feet above its creation point. The blast is divided into hundreds of bala-like blasts that scatter randomly from the point of eruption, making the attack incredibly difficult to effectively dodge. In spite of their size, the ‘bullets’ are stronger than her regular Cero, and possess the same volatile, explosive tendencies.

Gran Cero Bomba (Grand Cero Bomb) Cali's form of Gran Rey Cero, which starts off as a small ball of red spiritual energy that fits neatly within her palm. The ball itself can be utilized in a myriad of ways, but the effects can rarely be differentiated from one another. When the ball comes into contact with anything, it releases a sort of an enormous blast proportional to the effects of an atomic bomb, (minus the bio-hazardous range effects,) which can vaporize most enemies instantaneously.

Resurreccion:

Zanpaktou: Petardo (Firecracker)

Release Phrase:
(English)
Rip apart the sky, Petardo!

(Spanish)
Rasgar el cielo aparte, Petardo!

Attacks

Escarlata Sustantivo (Scarlet Haze)
After setting off a reasonably small cero bomb in the area, the location will be engulfed in a debilitating wave of constant heat, which serves to induce nightmarish hallucinations in her enemies. Generally utilized as torture method or escape tool, as it only produces psychological damage and discomfort.

Bombardero Corte (Bomber Blade)
By spacing her hands apart, Calima is able to create a blade of red cero equal to the length of her spread hands. While she can use the blade as a regular weapon, the Bombardero Corte’s true power lies in its ability to explode and reform on command. This often leads enemies to believe that the Bomber Blade is her main method of attack in resurreccion, which is sadly not the case, as it is, in reality, only dense, volatile cero in the form of a blade.

Primero Chispa: Tourbillion (First Spark: Tourbillion)
The First Spark lines Calima’s claws with small, spherical cero bombs that automatically replenish themselves each time they explode. When she attacks, the bombs go off, and create a miniature display of fireworks during battle, while adding extensive punch to her offensive capabilities. While ostentatious and showy in appearance, the Primero Chispa serves a very direct purpose – aiming to embed invisible micro-bombs in the bloodstream of her opponent. When enough cero bombs have been placed within the enemy’s blood, Calima can move on to the second stage of the set, which is...

Impropio Chispa: Chispeante (False Spark: Sparkler)
The False Spark usually follows the First Spark, just as Calima’s claws are lined with the micro-bombs, though it is not necessary to use the attack between stages. Before moving onto the Second Spark, the Espada will cross her arms in front of her body, palms facing outwards as she curls her claws. A quick swipe downwards releases ribbons of Cero into the air, which take on the appearance of quickly-moving sparklers. By raising her hands towards the sky and swiping down a second time, the attack is released, and hurdles rapidly towards the opponent, each ‘spark’, which are numbered somewhere in the millions, representing the force of a small bomb.

Segundo Chispa: Fija (Second Spark: Jubilee)
The Second Spark occurs after an adequate supply of micro-bombs have been placed within the opponent’s bloodstream. Calima will back off, utilizing her Sonido to play prolonged defense, which unbeknownst to her opponents, is a tactic utilized to give her time to expand the tiny explosives inside of her enemy. By the time this becomes clear to her enemies, it is often too late to stop the ‘celebration’ from coming into fruition. Calima can, at any time, force the bombs to explode inside of her enemy—leaving them with absolutely no method of escape. Depending on the amount of time she is given to grow the attack, the second spark can destroy her opponent entirely, or set her up for the final stage of her set, which is...

Tercio Chispa: Gran Bengala (Third Spark: Grand Flare)
The Third Spark is Calima’s strongest attack, though it takes two preceding stages and a fair deal of time to set up, and occurs only when an opponent is able to survive the Second Spark. Similar to the maximum limit of Cali’s Gran Cero Bomba, the Tercio Chispa is essentially a tightly formed ball of condensed Cero with a specialized effect. Rather than throw the Cero towards her opponent, the Espada will instead drop it from her palm, a matter that explains itself as time progresses. Once released, the Gran Bengala will target her opponent indefinitely due to the recognition of his or her blood. Acting much like a heat-seeking missile, the bomb will relentlessly pursue her enemy unless she chooses to stop it. Unlike a missile following heat patterns, it also cannot be tricked, as the enemy’s blood will always retain the same chemical composition. When contact is inevitably made, and atomic-like, point blank explosion marks her final celebratory cue.

Resurreccion Segundo Etapa:

Reavivar Chispa (Reviving Spark)
The Reviving Spark lines Calima’s claws with small, spherical cero bombs that, like the First Spark, serve to fill an opponent’s bloodstream with explosives. Unlike the three stage set, Reavivar Chispa is a single attack. As soon as a physical assault is laid upon her opponent, the bombs will disperse into their bloodstream and immediately multiply and expand at a rapid pace. Calima can then fire off a heavily condensed Cero, which will track the micro bombs, and the unlucky opponent, indefinitely. When the Cero inevitably makes contact, she will set off the Cero bombs in the same instance, and twin explosions will decimate her enemy inside and out.

Bombardero Doble (Double Bomber)
The Bombardero Doble is essentially a more powerful version of the Bombardero Corte. By spacing her hands apart, Calima is able to create multiple blades of red Cero that equal the length of her spread hands. Each blade can still be used as a regular weapon, but their true power lies in the ability to explode and reform on command. Usually, the blades are rapidly formed, and utilized to capture opponents, exploding shortly after rendering them immobile. As versatile as they are volatile, the Bombardero Doble can function offensively and defensively at the same time, which makes it quite dangerous, to say the least.

If your doing this well with characters like Soi-Fon, I'm sure you would ZOMG love a pic you drew with lil ol Espartero/me in it ^^. I would say Amadeo/Amedeo, but I'm not in the mood. Yes, but Cali wouldn't own that fight. lol, her fighting ability is between 4th and 3rd despite her fancy 5, not up to numeros deux. lol. I'm actually going to do Byakuya-chan next, since someone has to save Soi Fong. See a trend? Offing the people nobody in BSRP liked. ;) Because Cali would never like them. ^^

Maybe umn...friendly sparring though. Since Cali knows her place. lol.

Ya, I was thinkin a friendly spar, since its obvious Espy-san would wanna make sure his best Espada pal stays alive out there. But your battle scene skill is WAY better then before. I really liked ALL the new pics, but bloody Soi-Fon was my fav ^^ We do hate her :D or atleast I do.
:iconpyro-productions:
I despise her, that's why Cali's murdering her. Technically they have similar stats in regards to battle, low defense high attack and all, but Cal's got her speed owned which is Soi Fong's only chance at her cheap-ass shikai utilization. Therefore, pwn'd. I absolutely love how it turned out though. ;)
